Windows 10: Faulty battery might cause a unsuccessful Windows 10 installation.

I have a Lenovo Z710 laptop with a defective battery.
After 2 failed attempts to install Windows 10, I tried again, this time I uninstalled Avast antivirus and disconnected from the Internet when Windows 10 was downloaded. I also removed my laptop defective battery.

On the third attempt the installation succeeded, but Windows 10 froze after a few minutes, with the error message "Drive_Power_State_Failure. I put the battery back into the laptop, and now I have no problems with Windows 10.


I do not know if it was battery removal which helped, or whether it was uninstalling antivurusprogrammet and disconnecting internet.

So my tip is, removal of a defective battery might be the solution.

The fault is caused by one of three things so try the following actions, in order of severity...

1. Faulty software. Update your firmware using the NSU available from the Nokia support pages (Link below).

2. Faulty battery. Try another battery as your current one might require trickle charging or is broken. You can attempt to trickle charge your battery by charging it for 30 seconds at a time spaced by another 30 seconds or so between charges. Do this for ten
to twenty minutes (Note this rarely works on modern mobile batteries anymore).

3. Faulty hardware. The device might have electrical problems. Take it back to your retailer for replacement or refund, or an authorized Nokia Service Centre to have it repaired under its warranty.
