Windows 10: Faulty/corrupted windows installer (from usb) screwed my HDD in a way I dont understand.

The other day I purhaced a new SDD and wanted to install Windows 10 on it. I must have used a faulty or too old USB-drive as an installer since the installation did not finnish and I got a error code stating that some files were missing and installation could not be completed.

I tried another USB-drive (newer one) and installed Windows 10 installer on it. But now when I tried the installation againe, the installer did not recognize the SDD anymore. This problem persisted on whatever I tried or did on BIOS or anywhere else. Also my other HDD (which has all my data I wished to keep) was affected and did not show up either. They both show up in bios normally but for some reason the Windows 10 installer did not find them.


I managed to get past the problem with the SDD by using ubuntu to just remove all the partitions and allocations and this time the drive showed up in installer using the new USB-drive and I managed to install Windows 10 on the SDD.

My problem still being that the HDD which didn't show up either is still inaccesible. It shows up in BIOS and even in Device manager, but not Disk managment nor can I use storage spaces to create a new pool of storage.

I believe that the faulty Windows installer screwd over the HDD which has all my data in it. If I use the faulty USB drive trying to install Windows, then the lost drives show up in the phase where you choose where to install windows. This is absurd in every way I can imagine. If I try the new installation USB, the drives wont show up.


I could just use ubuntu to clear it but I dont want to lose all my files. Is there any solution to this or any other experiences of the issue? Or anyone more cabable with Windows be able to help me on this issue? Id love to keep all my files. Thanks in advance!

If you have any guestions id be glad to answer. The drive in question is 1TB WD Blue, 3.5", SATA III, 7200rpm, 64MB.

corrupt hdd

I have an 8 year old ibm thinkpad r51 and it now has a corrupt internal hdd...... i dont no much about computers so please suggest what i should do?

 

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

 

Windows 7 wont install drivers

i dont think anyone here understands what your asking either when its nearly a 90% english dominated Tech forum.
Step 1
reinstall windows from scratch
Step 2
install all drivers from the cd that came with the god damn motherboard *common sense*
Step 3
update windows
Step 4
install misc etc crap like flash java etc etc
Step 5
Install GPU drivers
Step 6
go back to using your pc without issue.
