Windows 10: Faulty update and no help to be found

2 computers ran an update that appears to be faulty and now causes those computers to lock up in a variety of activities. It is not specific to a particular program or activity. It is not happening on other computers which have not done the latest Windows update. The error is "What Failed: win32kfull.sys"


3 people have had a wasted day trying to bring their computers back up and obtain help from Windows. It has been frustrating and useless, whether trying online no actual Tech Support Chat help available, or phone no actual contact gained, just referred back to useless online. Even when I finally found a site to describe the problem, it stalls you out at having to pay large sums for help. These were links from the Microsoft site, not random ones chosen from online searches.


It appears the only way to fix this, since Microsoft isn't helping, is to back up our computer files, uninstall Windows, then reinstall it. Even this isn't straight forward. We have confidential info we cannot post to the cloud. How do we do a backup? How do we uninstall and reinstall Windows?


WHY DIDN'T they test the update so it wouldn't cause glitches before releasing it!?!?!


The absolute lack of successful help is ludicrous. There needs to be a method of directly contacting Microsoft tech support without having to pay extra for it. It's bad enough we can't just buy the programs and get updates. We have to subscribe to it for each computer. Now it appears we also have to pay for help when their product breaks down through no fault of our own. Completely unethical.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
