Windows 10: .fbx Files are getting turned into 3D Objects Automatically

So I'm using cascadeur to animate and when i finished my animation, i exported it as a .fbx file but when exported, it automatically switched into a .3D object file. I tried again, double checking that i'm exporting my animation in .fbx but still, anyone knows why?

Hi Joel,

You may follow the steps below and see if it works:

• In your search box, type Default apps settings.
• On the Default apps settings page, click on Choose default apps by file type.
• Under Choose default apps by file type screen, scroll down to .fbx and change Paint 3d to the Unity app installed on your computer.

Please check if it works.

I have been working on a character for VRchat in Blender and i tried moving it to Unity, but when I extract my .blend file into a .fbx file it is not Unity files as it would be on another computer it is a 3D paint file. I even tried downloading a shading
pack online for Unity and all the .fbx files in there are also replaced as 3D paint files and I can't import them into Unity.

 

how to tell what a paint 3D file is

To locate your recent project in Paint 3D after resetting the application:

1. Open File Explorer.
   
2. Navigate to the following folder: C:\Users[Your Username]\Documents\3D Objects.
   
3. Look for your project file with the file extension ".3MF" or ".FBX".
   
4. Copy or move the project file to a safe location to preserve your work.
   

By accessing the "3D Objects" folder in your Documents directory, you should be able to find and retrieve your recent project in Paint 3D.
