  1. Feature request: Add a native colour and brightness config for external monitors

Hey there! I hope you are doing great.I'm going through the same issue described here on a different monitor, so this is a question / feature request like I described on the title and a bit of venting away, sorry!; I was unable to re-open said question so I'm creating my own.If the only current way to change the brightness is via the onboard / dedicated graphics of my equipment as a workaround, I find it totally annoying because the only system I have running your OS is a laptop with NVIDIA / Intel dual graphics so I use the onboard Intel graphics if I'm not gaming, which would mean I have t

  2. monitor brightness?

    Hi Tom,

To change your Windows 10 monitor brightness, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    • Click the Windows logo; then, search for Control Panel.
    • Select Hardware and Sound.
    • Choose Power Options.
    • On the next screen you should see brightness slider at the bottom of the Control Panel window.

We would appreciate it if you could get back to us and provide us your feedback.

  3. Would the monitor drivers be disabling brightness in Windows?

TL;DR: Could the drivers of the monitor be handling and thus disabling brightness settings even though there is no external monitor?

For context, I am trying to get the most accurate sRGB colours possible if an image is displayed with the sRGB colour profile embedded (oddly specific I know), I have enabled sRGB mode on my monitor which provides the most accurate sRGB colours, but even when I disconnect my external monitor, there is no option to change brightness via Windows, which their support site only mentions this being a problem when an external monitor is connected. So my question is whether brightness is being handled solely by my monitor hence the sRGB colours are accurate or if Windows would be handling brightness somewhere (in which case they may be slightly inaccurate)? Or should Windows have a brightness slider and the lack of the slider is its own issue (e.g out of date drivers)?

I assume that due to the drivers the brightness is being handled by my monitor and hence Windows does not have a setting for it, but I dunno for sure.

I know that the colours on my monitor will be sRGB accurate as it is in sRGB mode which is why I specify that I am trying to get the most accurate display of an image that has the sRGB gamut. From my understanding, even if my monitor shows everything in sRGB, if Windows is altering the brightness the sRGB colours shown by the monitor may not match the sRGB colours of the image.

Feature request: Add a native colour and brightness config for external monitors

External monitor is too bright pale

I have a samsung S19A10N monitor conected with a VGA to HDMI converter in my laptop.

The laptop screen is more brighter than the monitor and the night light feature works perfectly on it.

Hours trying to know default brightness and contrast monitor default settings without luck.

Driver settings defaults and the problem continues.

    VGA cable fail?

    VGA to HDMI converter fail?

The external monitor doesnt work well with "Night Light" feature, disable it and color black will be black again,

    no more pale bright.

    regards
