Windows 10: Feature to block IP Subnet Range in Defender Indicator List

Hi,Is there a feature to block the whole IP subnet range of /24 in the indicator list of Defender for Endpoint console?It will be very helpful to block the whole range in one go.Any help will be apprecaited.

Hi,

Follow the steps below and check if the features to apply static IP is available in your device.

• Navigate to settings.
• Search or navigate to “Wi-Fi”.
• Scroll all the way down and tap “static ip”.
• Turn on “Configure network settings manually”.
• Key in the IP address, subnet mask and other details

Note: Do remember that your router / DHCP should support allocating static IP for this feature to work.

If the above feature is not available then your model may not support the same.

Create a Single Firewall Rule Using a Subnet Mask

You can create a single firewall rule to block the IP range 13.54.0.0 to 13.54.255.255 using the /16 mask like this:

The portion after the / is the subnet mask which specifies how many bits of the specified address should be examined to determine if a connection's IP address matches the rule.

In your case it's easy to figure this out. You want to match addresses based only on the first two octets (13.54.x.x) of the IP address. An octet contains 8 bits, so two octets equals 16 bits or a mask of /16.
