Windows 10: Fell for online trap. What can I do?

This is both a question and a warning. I was browsing Bing for 3D programs and

suddenly a warning flashed that said my Adobe flash needed updating. Stupid me hit the update button,

and ended up installing a bunch of programs I didn't need before I caught it. It took me a long time to

remove all the mess I made.

My question is: How do I keep this from happening again? Is there a way to be warned

that something like this can happen? Do I just close the net then turn off the PC? I've fallen for stuff like this before. I don't want it happening again. Sorry for 2 questions in one day, but I'm ignorant when it comes to PC's sometimes.
