    FIDO KEY - First TIme Setup - Is there a 22H2 update problem?


    I have 22H2 installed, and went to set up a FIDO Key. It seemed easy enough during setup. But when I went to test it by shutting down and logging on, all my computer did was log me on. I wasn't prompted to insert my key as I expected. I don't have a PW or PIN. Although I had set up a PIN on the security key. I have put the key back to factory reset and took down the Security Key login.The reason I mention 22H2 is I have read others are having some sort of FIDO Key issue with 22H2. On the other hand, when looking into their issue, it didn't seem to match mine.DELL Inspiron LaptopW11

    If you can't install it from windows update you can try to install it manually, it's the same KB5015684 obtained with windows update.

    I wish things are that simple. My error code was 0x80246017, and I don't have KB5020435 installed so it's a dead end. BTW, MS lists like 6 or 7 error codes of the format 0x8024xxxx on the "troubleshooting WU problems", and when you chose next step, it suggests generic steps: run WU troubleshooter, check if your disk has no errors, is your remote disk is accessible, etc. Same as MS community; each similar error has completely different cause and (re)solution.
    MS in notorious for this- if it works then OK, if it doesn't then good luck.
