Windows 10: file access errors?

    file access errors?


    I am getting "Windows can not access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". This has just started to happen. I get it at boot up for a windows app and when I try to launch Nvidia control center.

    Also the files being denied access to are truncated in the error display. Is there a way to show the whole file in the error message? Couldn't find them in the event logs.

    Did a repair install of windows 10 pro but it did no good.

    Uninstalled recently installed virus software and that did no good either.

    Computer crashed a few times which could have messed something up. Also don't know why it crashed i the first place.

    cannot access file/or permissions

    I have a file i need to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

    So I right click and choose Properties to access the permissions but I cannot. In the Security tab I get a message saying, " You do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings.".

    Next I boot into the Windows 7 Hidden Administrator Mode - and even with this I get all the same error messages.

    Please help me as I really need to run This file.

    We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty.

    Remove items from Quick access.

    I would suggest you to follow the below steps.

    • Right click on the file or folder.
    • Select the option “unpin from the quick access”


    To pin items to an item already on the quick access bar.

    Follow the below steps.

    I would suggest you to create folder in the desktop screen & place all the files or folder which need to pin to the quick access.

    • Open the quick access.
    • Select the Desktop option.
    • Right click on the folder & select the option “pin to quick access”
