  1. file accessed date time group question

how could I explain a file accessed date time group being later than the actual open date time group, does sleeping tabs or a thin client unlock reset file date accessed times?back ground; I am looking into an issue of printing and turning in a word doc and then looking at the properties of the file in question and the accessed date is after the print, on a thin client system? how is this possible? is it possible sleeping tabs and reawakening them changes the accessed date, or possibly letting the thin client lock and then re logging in can change open files accessed dates?

    :)

Group by date taken results in compressed time frames, not actual DATES..

    Hi JakeSherlock

sort it by date taken as well as group by

then all the files under the group headings will be sorted by day

    hope that helps,

if you feel sorting/grouping could be improved, you can make the suggestion to the development team using the feedback hub (winkey+F)

  4. file accessed date time group question

When grouping by date in File Explorer, is there any way to force all dates to be shown, instead of just "a long time ago"?

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

Unfortunately, the Group By feature in File Explorer does not have the option to show all dates. It only groups files into "Today," "Yesterday," "Last week," and "A long time ago."

If you need to view all dates, you can use the "Modified" or "Date taken" column in the Details view, then sort the files by the date you want to use. You can also add the date information to the filename so that it will be easier to sort and organize the files.

I suggest considering creating feedback about this feature and sending it via the Feedback hub app so Microsoft developers can see it and review it. Access the feedback hub by pressing Windows key + f.

You can also post the same query in Learn Microsoft so IT professionals can give some insight on this query of yours.

    Kind regards.
