Windows 10: "File and Printer Sharing" under Private network on both Windows 10/11 keeps turning off on...

I have absolutely lost it with this damn problem. I've been trying for 3 days to figure out why BOTH windows 10 and windows 11 keep resetting the file and printer sharing option back to off under the private network settings after I turn them on and then exit out of the setup and resets to off. Due to this happening I'm unable to access ANY of my 6 computers. This has started happening in the last 2 weeks or so. Before the standard cut-and-paste responses start let me say I've gone through every link I've seen. Here's what I've done:Checked all the services are runningAll computers are on

control panel\network and Sharing center\Advanced Sharing settings

i select

TURN ON FILE AND PRINTER SHARING for private network

and save changes.

but when I return to the page, the

TURN OFF FILE AND PRINTER SHARING is marked!!

has someone solved this before?

Thank you for the update. What we can suggest now is to turn on File and Printer sharing in Command Prompt. Here are the steps to do it:

• Leave File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks turned
  on.
• Type CMD in the Search bar.
• Right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.
• Type netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="File and Printer Sharing" new enable=Yes, and hit
  Enter.
• Exit from the command prompt, and check if it will work.

If issue persists, try turning it on using Powershell, and check if it works. Here are the steps:

• Leave File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks turned
  on.
• Type Powershell in the Search bar.
• Right-click on Windows PowerShell, and select
  Run as Administrator.
• Type netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="File and Printer Sharing" new enable=Yes, and hit
  Enter.
• Close PowerShell.

Thank you for replying to my post.

Here is what I didn 2 notebooks both running Windows 10 Professional version 2004 and connected to the Internet through Xfinety gateway router model Home F70A-5

• cleaned, updated, turned on Windows Defender
• ran Windows Resource Protection - found no integrity errors
• verified WiFi settings on both PCs
  • Connected to a Private network
  • Directory Discovery is On
  • Automatic setup of network discovery is On
  • File and Printer sharing is On

What could be preventing File Sharing from working?
