  2. Pasta $AV_ASW

encontrei recentemente uma pasta "$AV_ASW" no meu disco (DFile $AV_ASW :), pesquisei e falam que é uma pasta do Avast, mas o problema é que eu uso Kasperky e não Avast.

    $AV_ASW folder

    Dear all,

Lately I've found a folder in both my C: and D:, named $AV_ASW. Inside there is a vault folder and within that folder, is a db file that I can't open with notepad or MS Access. Any idea on this? I've tried googling but it gave me avast instead, however,
I've used avast for more than 3 years now, no such file exist before. Is it virus or bug or malware or whatever? Please advice. Thanks!

    File $AV_ASW

    what is $Windows.~WS,$WINDOWS.~BT and $AV_ASW

    Hi shuxingwu,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

The folder $Windows.~WS and the folder $WINDOWS.~BT are left over from a major Windows update or reset, they can be safely deleted,

It is best to use Disk Cleanup to delete those folders:

    Open File Explorer

    Click on your hard drive

At the top of File Explroer, click the 3 dots and select 'Cleanup'

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

    Start Disk Cleanup again

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

Important - this time in the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup System Files'

Let Disk Cleanup run another scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

    2

The $av_asw folder is the quarantine folder for Avast Security, you should not delete that folder.
