Windows 10: file changed format when I renamed it

I recorded a music file in mp3 format, and had to change the name of the file. When I changed it, and wen to open it, it asked what I wanted to open with, which hasn't happened doing this previously. I also tried to restore previous version but that didn't find previous version. Any help please

Changing Time Format

There's a possibility that the set up time format in your computer Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is military time. To have this checked, you can try to reset the time of your computer through Control Panel. See the steps below on how to do
so:

• Open Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region >
  Change date, time, or number formats. This would open the
  Region window.
• From there, click on Additional settings at the bottom part. It will open the Customize Format.
• Click Reset; then, OK.

The steps should work; however, if not, we suggest that you contact manufacturer and have the BIOS time checked.

How to rename image files in a folder all to .jpg format

Hi,

Since you now only have the option to use the PowerShell to change file extensions by batch, here's an example of how you can use
PowerShell in replacement of the Command Prompt:

ie. Changing .png to .jpg.

• Open the folder where you will change the file extensions by batch. (Note:
  This will change all the format of the files inside the folder.)
  
• Click the File tab, then Open Windows PowerShell.
  
• Type or copy this:
  
  Dir *.png | rename-item -newname { [io.path]::ChangeExtension($_.name, "jpg") }
  
  Note: Make sure that you change ".png" and ".jpg" to the file extensions based on your situation.
  
• Press the Enter key from the keyboard.
  
• Refresh the folder.

Oh, by the way, have you noticed an option to open a Command Prompt
from the File tab when you were on Step #2?

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.
