Windows 10: File Copy Bloat

Okay, after having a large batch copy fail multiple times is there some secret to this? I've resorted to 7z'ing up any "large copy task", then copying the 7z file, then un7z'ing it on the destination drive.

The weird thing is this whole process takes less time than just copying the folder. Is there some setting in Win10 that makes whatever adds all the bloat and OS crashing (and likely orphaned disk writes) get disabled?

A 10gb copy from internal disk to external disk should not take 4 hours on USB3, Microsoft, regardless of how many small files are included. 7z them all up(8 minutes), copy over(30 seconds on USB3), and un7z them (4 minutes or so on external).

The worst is if you're trying to organize files across an SD card, external drive, and internal drives. Say, for example, because you had to format and wanted to restore your backups. Get several copy tasks going, crash. Everything is half copied. Have to delete all the destination folders and restart. And god help you if you were doing a "move" rather than copy, you're probably looking at data loss now.

So. Is there a setting to make file copy work right?

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one
