Windows 10: File downloaded to desktop won't appear except refresh windows explorer

Actually, this happens when I am downloading a .exe file or .zip file currently, only these two file types have this problem; I have tested other types, like .rar or .pdf, and don't have this problem.When these two types of files are downloaded to the desktop, they won't appear except when I click the refresh screen or F5.On the other hand, except for downloading file to the desktop, I also tested downloading file to the download directory, and it also has this problemSystem: Windows 10 Home, 19045.3930

About downloading files not appearing on Desktop unless refreshing

This Refresh problem has existed for at least twenty years. It can come & go.

I wasted months of my life investigating the issue & trying out innumerable so-called solutions.
- Some worked for a very short period.
- Some did not work at all.
- None fixed the problem permanently.

I suggest that you do not waste time. Just accept it and get on with more productive work.

Automatic refresh doesn't work in File Explorer, Desktop, Recycle etc.


Same in the safe mode, no changes...

I have tried pretty much all those suggestions from various sites, but none of them worked for me.
What I have seems to be a major issue, they even call it WEDR bug.
The only thing that slightly changed recently... sometimes, a few times I managed to get automatic refresh for the Desktop, if I for example do the right click and create a new folder, it does create instantly and is visible straight away.... hoewever this never happens in Windows Explorer... I think I once got a file in C: to be processed automatically but thats it... and never had ANY automatic refresh for any of the folders and files on external drives.

I have had this problem and so have lots of other people. None of the suggested solutions I found on the internet had anything other than a temporary effect. The problem eventually went away of its own accord but still rears its ugly head from time to time. I only kept a few links on the subject -

When the problem reappears, I restart the computer. If that does not resolve matters then I accept the situation and don't waste my time chasing non-solutions. You might wish to consider adopting the same approach.
