    Hi,My name is Petronio, I have most of my files encrypted by WIN10 PRO. six months ago I reinstall windows 10 making a backup in advance. After the installation everything was normal and I could access my files With out using the backup. Two days ago I repeat this reinstallation of WIN10 but since it worked nicely the previous time I didn't do the backup. No I don't have access to my encrypted files and I can't decrypt them. I installed the encryption certificate I had been using for years and still I can't decrypt the files. In other words I can decrypt my older files but nothing from six mon

    Hi Iman,

    Error message 0x80071771 means that you need to restore the file encryption key in order for you to decrypt the encrypted files. On the other hand, you can still try these steps and see if it will work:

    • Right-click the file or folder that you want to decrypt.
    • Click File ownership and click Personal.

    My suggestion to you is to look into what kind of encryption the program used, and look for a way to break that type of encryption. Sorry I can't say a specific program for sure.
