Windows 10: file explore does not auto-sort when new files are created, pasted, into folder

Just upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10, and the file explorer will no longer sort newly created files in the folder unless I manually refresh etc.Stuff like this is why I dislike windows and personally use Mac I only use Windows for my day job. Is there an option, is there ANY WAY, to ensure the file explorer will correctly put files in their correct sorted position w/o having to manually press F5refresh or manually browsing away and back to a folder? It's an infuriating problem because I can not trust the information I am looking at... is the file there? is it missing? why don't I se

Hi Greg,

You can filter the folders and files in File Explorer using the Sort by option. To best address your concern, we need you to answer the following questions:

• What do you mean when you mentioned “files sorted by latest first”?
• You mentioned that you were able to perform it before, which Windows version were you using that time?
• Can you provide us a detailed description of what you would like to perform?

In the meantime, you can try the following steps:

• Go to File Explorer.
• Click the Drive where the files and folders are saved.
• Under Current view, click Sort by.
• Select Name if you would like to sort it alphabetically. Choose
  Date modified or Date created if you wanted to sort it by date. Refer to the image below.

Please take note that you can’t apply two filters at a time.

Sorting with File Explorer.

I tried the method that was complicated (3rd option) but fell over in second step as I could not find any "apply to folder button"'.

However, the simple put *.* in search bar, then sort results windows by date does the trick. It is slightly cumbersome as I have to do that each time I am selecting files (to upload to sharepoint) but a lot less hassle than I was having to scroll up and down between sorted file block and sorted folder block.

File Explorer - Auto Sort

I am sorry, but I cannot find any options for Auto Arrange in a folder. I see it for the Desk Top icons, but not in a File Explorer window.

I did not change any settings. The file list has always resorted itself immediately after renaming a file in Windows 7 and Windows 8. But it is not doing so in Windows 10.

If there is a setting for Auto Arrange in a File Explorer window, can you tell me where to find it?
