Windows 10: File Explorer and File Copy/Paste etc functions not working, Task names have "windows." prefix

This is a similar problem like " the one Created on August 7, 2020 "File Explorer and File Copy/Paste etc functions not working ", but the solution suggested there did not work.


I have an ASUS Q503UA laptop, with Windows 10 HOME, OS Build 19041.685, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0.


A few days ago, when i turned the PC on, i observed it started to do chkdsk /f, and by mistake i turnd the PC off.

When it started again, i let it do the chkdsk /f, and apparently everything was OK.

All the apps are working, i could access all the apps i wanted. Only when I wanted to copy a picture, I realize that I cannot copy, delete or rename files, cannot create or move folders and all the tasks in the File Explorer menu have the prefix "windows." , e.g. windows.newfolder, windows.cut, windows.copy, windows.paste, etc, and none of them are functional.


I checked ASUS BOS Update site, shows i have the latest.

I made sure I apply all Windows updates , but no change.

I tried to get back to an older version, but the older i have was from 12/19, and did not do any change as far as the problem above is concerned.


Any suggestion would be welcome.

Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one

 

File Explorer - Copy/Cut and Paste function not working


Hi there, I need some help seeing at MS Support could not solve the problem.

When trying to copy and paste a file from File Explorer (or Desktop), my "Paste" operations remains disabled. As if the copy operation never actually copied the file. I also noticed that when I select "Cut" (file/icon becomes somewhat transparent), then moment I right click on the location where I would like to paste, the file/icon that the transparency stops, and once again the "Paste" function is not available.

The same goes for Ctrl+X/Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. This also does not work.

When I boot into safe mode the operation works however, and intermittently in "normal" mode the operation does work. It seems as if some service/driver/thing stops the functionality.

Please assist, I will provide additional information if required.
