"File explorer" appended to all minimized windows in the task bar

Hi all,After I updated from windows 10 to windows 11 I did noticed that had some lagg issues where a simple operation like copy pasting a small file could freeze the computer for few seconds. Thus I followed the recomendations in the following video deactivating features to improve performance: How To Fix Windows 11 Lagging and Slow Problem [Quick Fix] 2024After that I ended with "File explorer" being appended in all the minimized windows in the task bar. e.g. "This PC - File Explorer" as opposed to just "This Pc". What can I modify to get that back as usual? Thanks

    :)

  2. Minimizing file explorer sends it back to search mode

With latest Windows 10 update (currently I'm having 2004), if you search in File Explorer and do "open folder/file location", and then minimize the explorer window, it will automatically roll back to original search status.

    Steps to reproduce this bug:

    1. Open File Explorer

    2. Pick a drive/folder, say "D:\data"

    3. On search box of File Explorer, type a search string, for instance "rose"

    4. A list of folders/files that have the string "rose" will be listed, and now right click on a folder/file, and select "open folder/file location"

    5. As expected, the search status (colored as blue in task bar) is gone, and the window becomes like a regular file explorer window (colored as yellow in task bar).

    6. You can further click on side bar and choose a different folder to display

    7. NOW the PROBLEM, if you minimize this window (or click on bottom right corner to minimize all open windows), you will see from task bar that it goes back to search mode, and display "rose". If you open it again, you will see it shows
search result for "rose" in current folder.

So, by picking "open file location", you already end the search and want to use file explorer in its usual way, but minimizing the window brings it back to search mode. I use search A LOT, and have seen this issue only recently. This is definitely a bug!

Windows 10 File Explorer won't open a folder that is minimized

I just upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday. The File Explorer has new behavior that I want to behave like it did in Windows 7. Here are the steps to reproduce:

    1. create a folder on desktop
    2. open the folder in the file explorer by clicking it
    3. minimize the desktop with Microsoft button + 'D'
    4. click the folder on the desktop again

Expected: the clicked folder opens in the same file explorer that was minimized (this is Windows 7 default behavior).

Actual: the clicked folder does not open. It stays minimized. The only way to access it is to go to the task bar and click it there. Annoying! Especially when there are 20+ folders minimized and collapsed.

I checked in Explorer options and I don't see anything that would allow me to modify this behavior.

  4. "File explorer" appended to all minimized windows in the task bar

Windows 10 File Explorer not responsive on Task Bar.

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, the File Explorer has become unresponsive on the Task Bar. After clicking the File Explorer on the Task Bar the Desktop refreshes but I never get the list of files. The only way I can access my files is to right
click on the Windows icon at the lower left of the screen, then select File Explorer.

I've tried unpinning the File Explorer from the Task Bar and then re-adding it. This did not solve the problem.

One additional piece of information, I have four accounts on this PC. Two of the accounts have the problem I described above. The other two accounts work correctly.

    Thanks for your help.
