Windows 10: File explorer constantly opening "This PC" by itself.

Computer working normallyalbeit slowly except repeated unexpected openings of File Explorer, interfering with work.

Tried : malware , sfc , DISM scans , ending and restarting via Task Manager, system restore, etc.

It seems to occur when mouse is inactive for a short length of time tried both wired and wireless mice, both working properly according to Device Mgr.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

File explorer will not open on windows 10

In this case, it's possible that the File Explorer is set to open an incorrect/corrupted file location. To rule out folder path related issues, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Type Control Panel in the search box. From the search result, click
  Control Panel.
• Select Small icons from the View by: drop-down list located on the top right side of the window.
• Select File Explorer Options.
• Under the General tab, select This
  PC from the Open File Explorer to: drop-down list.
• Click OK.

Once you're done, open File Explorer again and check if the issue persists.

Explorer.exe crashing constantly

There are several reasons why you've experienced the issue. If all the troubleshooting steps you found did not help, try disabling the Show recently used folders in Quick access and set Open file Explore to this PC. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer.
• On the View tab, select Options drop-down arrow.
• Choose Change folder and search options.
• On General tab, click the drop-down arrow beside Open File Explorer to and select
  This PC.

We also suggest clearing File Explorer in history.
