    File Explorer crash/hang/badness


    I have seen this question for many years. Has there ever been a resolution?So, i have a great number of machines/users who are experiencing File Manager Explorer continually crash. I have replaced machines to said users. Explorer still crashes. Windows 10 clean build Explorer crashes, windows 11 Clean build, Explorer crashes.The logs reveal nothing. Not why, or even what was happening at the time.From SFC to booting in Safe mode, VM machines, etc, Explorer crashes.Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas ?

    Sorry I got nothing more to suggest then.

    File explorer hanging is an image issue. So if you can't do a repair upgrade or reset your PC then you can contact microsoft support directly to see if they have further steps but I am sure they are going to tell the same thing i did.

    Effective Way to Solve the File Explorer Crashes Issue

    You can try the following steps:

    1. Tap down the Windows button first to activate the search bar.
    2. After that, in the search bar type control, and then click on the top-most search result, that is on Control Panel.
    3. Next, in the search bar type file.
    4. Now, from the search results click on File Explorer Options.
    5. Then, click on the Clean button.
    6. Lastly, click on Apply and then on OK.

    explorer just crashed? why?

    One bad file can cause explorer to crash. Have you defragmented your HDD's lately?
