Windows 10: File explorer crashes when creating new folder!

this only happens when creating a new folder, and only on my user...

Whenever I try it on an alternate account, it doesn't happen...

Hi,

Neither of these fixes works. I can also tell you that when I click the 'New Folder' short cut button, I can create it without File Explorer crashing if I leave the name as 'New Folder'. However if I give it a name whilst creating the folder or try renaming
it after creating the folder, File Explorer still crashes.

• Press CTRL + SHIFT + N.
• A new folder should be created.

Creating a new folder from File Explorer.

• Open File Explorer.
• Hover your mouse on the location where you want to create a new folder.

We got you on this. We have a few methods that you can try to resolve the issue with File Explorer crashing when trying to create a new folder. At first, please try to check for System File error by using the
System File Checker (sfc /scannow).

Next that you can try is this method:

1. Type in Start search/Cortana File Explorer Options and hit Enter.

2. Under the General tab, on Privacy section, click on
Clear button, and deselect the following options:

• Show frequently use folders in Quick access.
• Show recently used folders in Quick access.

Once done, please try to create folders and see if the crash still happens.
