Windows 10: File explorer crashing on windows 11 when renaming, moving or deleting PDF files

I have windows 11 and everytime I want to rename, delete or move a pdf file, my file explorer crashes. What is the cause and how can I fix? The only way i found around moving and renaming is by opening the pdf in microsoft edge and saving as a new file, which creates duplicates

In my laptop with windows 10 x64 pro, (Core i7 3520M, Integrated Graphics, 16 Gb RAM and Samsung 850pro SDD with Samsung Rapid Mode enable), for months I have been experiencing momentary hangs of the File Explorer (Sometimes near a minute)
when I perform operations with PDF files including rename, copies and movements of folders with PDF files. I have 20 GB of small PDFs. This problem does not happen with any other type of files.

The problem generates a slowdown of Windows in general, including boot, increasing the use of CPU resources and affecting the indexing, native and 3rd-party, as well as browsers and Windows searches. Sometimes Windows Explorer restarts.

I have tried everything, including recommendations of Microsoft's multiple forums related with hangs and crashes of file explorer in Windows, as well as potential solutions from other sources, Including:

I have also disable Samsung Rapid mode and changed the default software to run PDF files, also using Microsoft EDGE but nothing.

Any recommendations?

thats wierd... iv never had a large file crash explorer before....


and i have files ranging upto 80GB...

It's an .exe right? Explorer probably read its icon (to a cache) when it was a "small" file and now call the quits when it finds "such a big" file.

If you want to delete it, use the console after killing explorer, you can run the console from TaskManager (Application -> New Task -> cmd). You might want to try copy the file to a different location (copy, not cut) and see if explorer can handle it in the new location before deleting it.
