Windows 10: File Explorer Erroneous Results

My computer has two hard drives, a primary and a backup. When I do a file search in Windows Explorer, the results that gets shown are always the files from my backup drive. Even when I designate the search path to my primary drive, I get results showing my backup files.


How do I fix this glitch?

I'm running Windows 10 with the latest updates. A few days ago, the icons for objects on the desktop changed appearance. The icons are correct but
all have a symbol at the bottom left corner:

• Shortcuts show the correct shortcut symbol
• All files erroneously show a shortcut symbol
• Almost all folders erroneously show a shortcut symbol
• Some folders erroneously show "X"

The icons for files and folders (including the Desktop folder) displayed using File Explorer are all normal.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

• Open the File Explorer and try to search for files.
• In the toolbar, open the View tab and click List
  to change the view.
• Once changed, close the File Explorer.
• Open the File Explorer again and try to search to see if the setting has been retained.

I would suggest you to reset the Windows explorer. Follow the steps below:

• Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and locate for Windows Explorer.
• Right click on the Windows Explorer and click on End task.
• On top of the Task Manager click on File and click on
  Run new task.
• Type explorer.exe inside the box and hit Enter.
