Windows 10: File Explorer explorer.exe keeps crashing Apphangb1

Model: ASUS VivoBook S15 S532FOS: Windows 10 Home 21H2Hello, I've been dealing with this issue since 5/23/22. It just randomly started and since then, I haven't been able to get it under control. The crash time intervals seem to fluctuate every 5-10 min. When it happens, my taskbar becomes unresponsive and within the task manager, explorer.exe shows "Very High" under the Power Usage tab. I either have to restart the process via Task Manger, click an icon on my taskbar, or hit the windows key for it to restart, and the same thing just happens again within 5-10 min.I've ran multiple antiviru

I did the steps you wrote. All the settings were as you suggested. The File Explorer keeps crashing.

thats wierd... iv never had a large file crash explorer before....


and i have files ranging upto 80GB...

It's an .exe right? Explorer probably read its icon (to a cache) when it was a "small" file and now call the quits when it finds "such a big" file.

If you want to delete it, use the console after killing explorer, you can run the console from TaskManager (Application -> New Task -> cmd). You might want to try copy the file to a different location (copy, not cut) and see if explorer can handle it in the new location before deleting it.
