This issue became apparent in April 2018 and has been partially resolved having followed the advice given in thread posted on 22nd June 2018, however continues intermitently.


I have only recently discovered this issue since I removed the Home Server (2011) from my network that dealt with file sharing up until now.


You have had nearly a year to sort this out and have failed to address the issue fully.


Windows 10 was marketed heavily as being home network friendly with the Homegroup function, which has been removed since V1803.


It is time for Microsoft to honour the commitment made in the marketing for Windows 10 to provide a simple and transparent resolution to this major issue in up to date user requirements.


Please with respect either return the Homegroup to Win 10, or, fix this bug which is still in OS build 17134.523 as at the 29th January 2019.


The current OS is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE in regards to the marketed networking capabilities, this is disrespectful to all of your customers affected who have financed your business.

• Have you made any changes on your PC?
• Did you perform any Windows update recently?
• Are you connected to Domain network?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if that helps.

File Explorer may not detect other devices or perform file sharing on the local network when running Windows 10 version 1803

After installing the Windows 10 April 2018 Update (Windows 10 version 1803), File Explorer cannot connect to other devices running version 1803.
When clicking the Network tab in File Explorer, other devices on the home network running version 1803 do not appear, and thus I’m not able to perform file sharing or access files on other devices on my home network.

Ermmm, where are the files stored? Server or one of the machines you listed?

Should be easy enough to help you through the forum, you may not need a help site.
