Windows 10: File Explorer Jumping To Top of List Every Few Seconds

I have read every page of the forum on the subject: "File Explorer Keeps Jumping Back To The Top" and the most poplular solution regarding turning off the "Automactically Select Color" option referred to apparently has nothing to do with my problem because I have gone in to the color settings only to find that feature is not turned on (or checked) and probably never has been. When I first downloaded Windows 10 my File Explorer wasn't doing this so i think it has something to do with a Windows 10 automatic update. This problem is enough to drive anyone crazy and there should be a permanent fix for it. Does anyone have a solution that's not the "Uncheck (or Turn Off) Automaic Color Selection" because that's not what is causing my file Eplorer to jump back to the top

Windows 10 File Explorer will jump to the top of the list regardless of if it's focused or not

Like the title says, file explorer will just randomly jump to the top of the file list after a really small amount of time.

I don't know if I missed a setting somewhere or something or it's just a bug. It happens in the file explorer on my SSD and all my HDDs. Anybody else noticed this or can test it and see if it also happens to them?

This didn't happen in 8.1 or 7.

I've tried timing it and it seems random though it takes a bit longer if there are more items in the folder, it's scrolled closer to the bottom, and is the main window, sometimes. By longer, I mean it'll wait a minute and a half before jumping up. Sometimes,
it'll wait less than 10 seconds.

Most I've seen it wait was a minute and 48 seconds

It'll even jump to the top if I'm in the middle of renaming a file. It just ignores what I'm doing and goes up.

And it's not a scroll up and doesn't happen in other programs, so not my mouse. One second, it's where I left it at and the next, it's at the top of the file list. Help

 

File Explorer Jump List

Hi, New PC Win 10 installed been working fine for about a year. All of a sudden, could have been after an update, and whilst all other jump lists are fine, the File Explorer jump list won't let me open an item by left clicking on it. To open an file
from the File Explorer Jump List I have to right click to open the jump list then right click again to open the mini menu and then I can left click the word Open. This is so annoying when you're used to just left clicking the file once the jump list is open.
Any ideas anyone apart from restore. thanks.

 

File Explorer jump list not working

Hi, thank you for your suggestions. I tried all those and no component missing. After the last one I rebooted just in case it needed that.

Result is that I have no change.

Another thing I noticed is that when I right click on the start icon whilst the run and search work fine everything from and including the File Explorer is similar to my jump list problem. Except that whilst in the jump list I can right click and get a
mini menu from the start icon this list just disappears whether I left or right click.
