Windows 10: File Explorer Navigating Issue Double Processing

Hi,My File Explorer has recently been acting up. The issue is when navigating/selecting between folders or files it delays with the busy ring appearing, which it refreshes two to three times before the system recognizes the selection. So moving between folders or files has been an enormous pain...Though when navigating in an application for example going through folders and drives when opening or saving a file, no problem there.To note I've re-indexed and cleared File Explorer history with no solution to the problem.System Info:Windows 10 Home 64-bit OS 22H212th Gen IntelR CoreTM i9-12

Why Can't I see the navigation Pane in File Explorer?

I am sorry to know that you are facing issues with Windows 10.

I suggest you to reset Windows explorer and check the behavior.

Please follow the steps:

• 
  Right click on the task Bar and select Task Manager.
  
• 
  Select Processes tab.
  
• 
  Choose windows explorer and right click on it.
  
• 
  Select end task
  
• 
  Click on file menu and select run new task.
  
• 
  Type explorer.exe
  
• 
  Click on ok.

File explorer will not open on windows 10

As a workaround, we suggest that you follow these steps to access windows explorer using the
Run dialog box. By doing this, we may identify if you can navigate Windows through this method. To do this, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the run dialog box.
• Type explorer and press Enter.

In case your system will allow you to navigate through this process, we recommend that you continue performing the in-place upgrade procedure.

Not able to open sub-folders from navigation pane in File explorer.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

• Under which drive are you not able to view the sub folders?
• Are you not able to expand the options from navigation pane of the File explorer?

This seems to be a temporary issue. Sometimes disabling and enabling some of the options will fix the issue.



Follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Open File explorer by pressing Windows key + E keys on the keyboard.
• Click on View tab located at the top of the window.
• Click on Navigation pane and uncheck Navigation pane option.
• Close the window, follow the above steps from a to
  c, only this time check the option Navigation pane and check if the changes are effective.
