Windows 10: File Explorer Not Completing Loading Files and Folders green bar constant and doesn't...

I joined the Dev Build Insider Programme on 2 August. Since installing 23511.1 and 23516.1, the green bar doesn't not complete its progress in File Explorer for any of my folders in 'Documents', apart from 'Documents' itself.The update to 23521.1 yesterday did not bring a fix and there isn't a reference to this being an issue. So, I have provided information to the Feedback Hub.But has anyone had the same issue and found a fix please?

File explorer green loading bar slow

Hi,

In file explorer (one drive) when files have been copied over and uploaded to one drive (green tick), sometimes the green loading bar immediately starts and can take up to 20 seconds to complete. What is the reason for this and the solution?

Moving between folders is still very quick and does not show the loading bar. It appears to only occur for one drive when the files have been copied over and uploaded to the cloud. I have only been working in one main folder in one drive and haven’t tried it under any of the other folders in one drive. Also I copied the same files to a network drive but it did not experience the same issue. This network drive has much more folders and files than one drive.

This only occurs sometimes and the time for the loading bar can vary and is typically below 20 seconds.

The main folder contains sub folders with files. Typically each sub folder may have 5 files or under, so not that many. I don’t think it’s the number of files within the folders as there is plenty of storage capacity left.

I have noticed the folder view settings are at the maximum of 5000 but I don’t think this will be the issue.

If you want to see what's actually happening as that progress bar progresses, you can capture ALL activity (from registry access upwards) using Procmon (Process Monitor) free from MS, but I'd guess it's more likely to be a peculiarity of explorer vs configuration.

You get a long text list of activity; lots of very technical filters to focus on particular aspects.

Step by step guide:
1. Hold Win+r to open run
2. Type msconfig and hit ok or enter
3. Click Services
4. Navigate to Windows search (you can sort the list in descending alphabetical order)
5. Uncheck tickbox
6. Click apply then ok
7. Select to restart now
