FILE EXPLORER: Not finding an obvious file when the search isn't exact.

Hi, In File Explorer's search, I'm looking in my Downloads directory for the file "inbox". This file named "inbox" is a PDF. I'm here because in Outlook I'm trying to convert my inbox to a PDF, and during this, Outlook says I already have a PDF named "inbox" in the downloads folder. So, here I am searching for the existing file named "inbox", which is a PDF. I type in "inbox" and I get this: There is no file named "inbox" and no PDFs found containing the word "inbox" in the title - only Excel workbooks and an Outlook item whatever that is that is clearly not named "inbox" the filename is

    :)

  2. File Explorer Search Not Working

I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

Windows Explorer doesn't find files (even when searching in the folder the file is in, with the exact file name and after reindexing all drives)

    Windows 10 OS Build 17134.523

Set for all drives and folders to be indexed (except program files).

I've selected Windows Update, Recovery and Backup as the Windows Topic because I found information about why Reindexing is sometimes required after updates.

    1. I'm trying to find a file. I have the exact file name.
    2. I search using Windows Explorer I get no file found.
    3. I know the file exists. I have a vague idea of where it might be.
    4. I search manually for the file and find it.
    5. I re do the search in just that folder, with the exact file name.
    6. I re try looking for another file I know is in that folder, in case it's a problem with the file.
    7. Still no luck
    8. I search for info on Windows Explorer not finding files, see it may be an indexing issue.
    9. I find the reindexing instructions.
    10. Reindex the whole computer.
    11. Indexing completes.
    12. Still can't "find" the file. Or other files in the same folder or other folders. Sometimes the search completes and displays no files found. Sometimes the search doesn't complete just displays 'working on it'
Is there any other advice on how I can get Windows Explorer to find files?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

    Converting rmvb files

K, i had the same problem with 75% of my rmvb files, but after i used this program 100% would convert. If the files play in realplayer it isn;t a problem with the codec.
Try searching for real alternative if you don;t want to use realplayer - it will let you play rm files in any media player.
