Windows 10: File Explorer Not Responding Caused By WSearch Issues

Hello everyone,I’m experiencing an issue with Windows, and while I’ve partially resolved it, I still need guidance to fully address the problem.What I experienced:File Explorer Stopped Responding: The window wasn’t completely frozen but kept loading indefinitely. I tried several solutions restarting the computer, running diagnostics, disabling startup apps to rule out conflicts, restarting File Explorer, etc., but nothing worked.The Windows Search indexing was inactive.I couldn’t open some apps e.g., Teams, Skype from the taskbar, though others like Excel, Word, Chrome, and Visual Studio o

• Can you please tell us if this update was a regular security update or the Fall Creators update?
• When you saw a dialog box, did you see a particular error message? If yes please send a screenshot.
  
• Did you perform any troubleshooting steps to resolve the concern?

WSearch service not starting

After restoring the file, run the following:

• net start wsearch
  

Does it start correctly?

We are not sure whether or not you have tried the above suggestion. If haven’t tried, follow the methods suggested above and check if the issue is resolved.



If the issue persists, scan the PC for the presence of virus/malware by running the antivirus security software. Run the antivirus security software twice to detect and confirm the presence of malware/virus on your PC. Check for the status of the scan
to view the presence of virus/malware.
