    File explorer not showing scanned files in correct order.


    I use a Brother DCP-L2520DW to scan my files. Whenever I scan files, the first file is moved to the last, the rest are in the correct order. I have contacted support before. They told me to view the files using "date modified" instead of name in ascending order. This works, but only as a temporary solution because I can imagine myself drawing on a file, save it, then the order will have the edited file last instead of the last scanned file being last. I am really disappointed at Microsoft's inability to fix this after months of other people before me having the same problem. I wish either the community can provide a solution that would allow me to view my files according to "name" instead of "date modified" or Microsoft actually addressing this problem. I would like to thank all those who contributed to this thread in advance, and hope you have a great year ahead.

    Can Win Explorer show: A) folders alpha order B) Files by date order?

    I have tried all that but I got nowhere.

    The obvious thing to do is to sort on the field called "Date". And rather surprisingly it ignores the dates content to the extend that under all circumstances it DOES put all the folders at the top!

    The problem is that although it's easy enough to change the date in that field "Date" for a file (simply by re-saving that file), however there doesn't seem to be any way of changing the date value in the "Date" field for a folder!

    PS the only other option I can think of that makes sense is to sort the whole list by Name (i.e. A==>Z).
    This will put the Folders at the top of the pane.

    And if you then change the actual name of the file to be the date that it was last changed, you have solved the problem.
    But only by "brute force" and huge inconvenience.

    Surely there has to be a better way?!

    Method 1: Perform System Maintenance troubleshooter.

    I would suggest you to perform System Maintenance troubleshooter on the computer and check if it fixes the issue.

    Please follow the steps to perform System maintenance check to improve performance of the computer:

    • Press Windows and x key together and select Control Panel.
    • Click on Troubleshooting.
    • Click on View all on the left side panel.
    • Click on System Maintenance and follow the onscreen instructions.
    Method 2: Perform SFC scan

    I would suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if that helps. The sfc/scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. It is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions
    in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

    I suggest you to perform System File Checker (SFC) scan.

    Step 1: System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

    Steps 2: You may try to restart Windows Explorer and check if it helps.


    • Right click on taskbar.
