Windows 10: File Explorer Preview ICON of Pictures photos is stretched

Note: This is NOT the my icons are all stretched out problemIn Windows Explorer icons of pictures / photos. If it's already horizontal it's fine.. if it's vertical it's stretch out the photo icon to the same dimensions as the horizontal preview photos.A Vertical Photo in File Explorer:AND BUT... when I double-click to open the photo in the Photos app, it's fine:So somewhere something got changed to "make all preview icons of photos to xxx width and yyy height, where width is more than height"- not just the "wide" ones. How do I get my wider-than-taller icon previews in file explore back to

Issues with Preview Pane in File Explorer.

in file explorer, the only preview images that show are ones imported from my android phone.

there are no preview images whatsoever showing for photos previously imported from my windows 8 phone, either from pictures subfolders or from onedrive pictures folder.

have tried view -> options -> change folder and search options -> always show icons, never thumbnails unchecked.

did not work.

have tried control panel -> system -> advanced settings -> performance -> custom -> show thumbnails instead of icons checked.

did not work.

any other suggestions, and insight into why WP photos not previewing on Windows PC?

Setting the Preview pane to show or hide in File Explorer will apply to all folders. If you wish to hide the Preview pane in File Explorer, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer.
• Tap on View tab.
• Click Preview Pane to view/hide it.

Using File explorer can stop given preview

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Open File Explorer.
• Click on View.
• Click on Preview pane.

If the issue still persists,

• Open File explorer.
• Click on View.
• Click on Folder options.
• Under View tab, check the option for Always show icons, never thumbnails.
• Click on Apply and OK.
