  1. File Explorer remembers files on a USB drive that has been removed

Well, not exactly. I have an encrypted USB hard drive that shows as one drive letter, and assigns a second drive letter after applying the decryptor. After disconnecting the decrypted drive, the second drive letter still shows up in File Explorer, and files in the last-visited folder continue to be shown. Attempting to select any of these files gives an error, of course.

Showing files on a drive that isn't there is confusing, and is also a security issue -- the names should not be visible to unauthorized users.

How can I get Explorer to forget the contents of a drive that has been removed?

    :)

  2. Removed USB files suggestions showing up in search bar and in search this pc in windows explorer

I had inserted a USB in my laptop and then removed it but when I searched the files in the search bar and in search this PC in windows explorer, all of the files and suggestions from the USB show up. What do I do to remove them?

"show recently opened items in jump lists on start or taskbar and in file explorer quick access" is already disabled. I have tried removing and adding c and drive d drive from the indexing options. I also tried clearing the device search history but nothing
    seems to work.

Cannot Remove File From File Explorers Recent Files List

I'm using Windows 10 and have always been able to remove files from the file explorer's recent files list. The file is listed as FileProvider and it is located in the ThisPC/downloads directory. Any other file is readily deleted from the list by the usual
procedure. This file is not. Any suggestions?

    THANKS

    ...

you get the idea. ( too lazy to put it in a for loop and test it.

or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.
