Windows 10: File Explorer Resizing/Position in other Programs

Hi All,


I hope someone can help with a little, but very annoying issue I've had for some time


My current OS is Windows 10 Home, Version 20H2, OS Build 19042.685 and Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0


When I open File Explorer on my desktop it opens in the same place as I've put it and the size I resized it to






If I open File Explorer in any other program, such as Photoshop which is always kept up to date on the most recent version and Chrome then it will keep the position/size set whilst I'm using my PC, but once I've shut down my PC and restarted again the window is always back in the top left hand corner and smaller - see the 2 images below





I have tried lots of different suggestions I've seen on the internet, such as clicking the top left hand corner to close the window, and on the odd occasion it has worked for a day or 2, but then everything goes back to how it was. I've carried out a complete fresh install of windows, which actually corrected the issue I had with File Explorer on my desktop doing the same thing, but it is now getting to the point where I'm considering using another OS!


I have also looked at many alternative File Explorers for Windows but none of them are able to work the way I like the Windows File Explorer to work for my Terabits for images


I really hope someone can assist with this issue

Win 10 - Resize screen windows

We regret the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to resize the File Explorer window to the position you prefer. Because Windows remembers the positions of the Windows when repositioning.

If you resize using a corner (preferably not the corner with the min, max, and close buttons) you can resize both height and width at the same time.

Windows 10 File Explorer Preview Pane - resizing doesn't resize the file being previewed!

In Windows 10, you may enable or disable updates. See steps below:

Enable:

• Click the Start button; then, select Settings.
• Select Update & security; then, click on Windows Update. If you want to check for updates manually, choose
  Check for updates.
• Select Advanced options, and then under Choose how updates are installed, select
  Automatic (recommended).

Disable:

• Click on Start.
• Search for Administrative Tools; then hit Enter.
• Click on Services.
• Right-click Windows Update; then, click on Properties.
• Choose Disable Windows Update.

To troubleshoot the issue that you are experiencing with resizing Windows 10 File Explorer Preview Pane, we suggest that you try to perform a
clean boot. By doing this, it will start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs.
