Windows 10: file explorer search finds only 1/2 of the files

I searched for a single a. I got 900,000 alphabetized results, but nothing after k. I searched for goka and got 12 results, but nothing after m. Search troubleshooter did not fix it. What should I do?

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

Please answer the below questions to assist you better.



1. What are the other troubleshooting steps that you tried to resolve this issue?

2. Did you make any software changes to the computer prior to this issue?

3. Did you rebuild search index and check?



You may follow the below methods and check.



Method 1: I suggest you to run the Search and indexing troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps provided below.



1. Press Windows logo key + X Key.

2. Click on Control Panel.

3. Double Click on Troubleshooting.

4. Click on View all option, on left hand side of the window.

5. Click on Search and indexing and follow the on screen instructions.



Method 2: I would suggest you to reset the Windows explorer. Please follow the steps:



1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and locate Windows Explorer.

2. Right click on the Windows Explorer and click on End task.

3. On top of the Task Manager click on File and click on Run new task.

4. Type explorer.exe inside the box and hit Enter.

BAT file/Script to find and replace files

Hey all....

Can someone help me make the BAT script in the 2nd post above to be able to use MORE than "1" file?
As it currently is, you can only replace one particular file.

For example, I want in the command line to be able to write two files or more, and the script will find and replace all those 2 or more named files.
Thanks much.

P.S.... Is there a GUI that does file searching and replacing?
I've spent hours searching on the net, and the only thing I can find are "text" search/replace and this BAT command, not actual "file" replacing. I find this amazing. *Frown
