Windows 10: File Explorer Search Tools AND How to keep these on top?

I am slowly getting acclimated to things and have learned to put a lot of tools on my taskbar so that I can find them when I need them. But how can I get the Search Tool to display before I enter search criteria. For example, trying to find a group of .jpg files that were created today. I had to enter something in the search box just to get the Search menu to display. Then if I did wildcard *.jpg search it searched the entire PC. If I used the menu for 'Search Today,' I had to see all files created today. I know we lost some search options in Win 10 but I was hoping that the full Search Opti

I have tried all the above steps but I am unable to find and search a file with email address as search key.

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

I suggest you to run the Search and indexing troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps provided below.

• Press Windows logo key + X Key.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Double Click on Troubleshooting.
• Click on View all option, on left hand side of the window.
• Click on Search and indexing and follow the on screen instructions.
