  1. File Explorer shows a Local Disk L:\ but is not listed in Disk Management

I did some testing with a USB connected hard drive, using it to restore a 4 partition Macrium Reflect backup. One partition was without a drive letter. I used PowerShell to assign a drive letter, L:, to make the contents visible.Since that time, I discovered that with the drive disconnected, File Explorer lists an L:\ drive as a Local Disk under This PC. The drive does not appear within the DIsk Management app. Clicking on the drive, I'm getting the following message:L:\ is unavailable. if the location is on this pc, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then

    :)

  2. Not able to remove Local Disk L:

    Hello Harrie,

I am Matt, an Independent Advisor and a specialist technician. I would like to assist you with this and hopefully I can help you to resolve this issue promptly.

    Please follow the steps below;

    1. Press Windows Key + Run to open "Run"

    2. Type in diskmgmt.msc and press enter.

    3. In the main part of disk management look for the drive associated with L: drive

    4. To the left where it lists the disks eg. Disk 0, Disk 1, Disk 2 right click on the corresponding disk with disk L: and select "Offline".

If this does not work let me know and I will guide you though removing the device from device manager.

I really hope this helps, let me know if I can be of more assistance. Have a great day.

    Kind Regards,

  3. Disk management console view is not up-to-date

i dont know how to fix your disk management, but i can fix your partition problems...

open up Command Prompt with admin rights. (Right click, run as admin)

    enter in
    DISKPART
    list disk

then find the Disk number for your Raid array... lets call it number 7 ( you can tell what disk is what by the total size)
    type in

    Select Disk 7
List Partition (will give you a list of all the partitions..)
Select Partition 1 (im assuming you only have 1 partition on Disk 7) repeat this step if you have more partitions.
    ASSIGN

that should get the array up and running ready to use.

    EDITED.

    any problems, post back ^^

Still EDITING *Stick Out Tongue File Explorer shows a Local Disk L:\ but is not listed in Disk Management :p

side question, have you tried restarting the PC?

  4. File Explorer shows a Local Disk L:\ but is not listed in Disk Management

My local disk is missing from file explorer.

I installed windows 10 on my new laptop yesterday. At time i also created a partition of some 850 gb. After coplete installation of windows when i opened my file explorer it only showed 'local disk (CFile Explorer shows a Local Disk L:\ but is not listed in Disk Management :)' on which windows was installed . Then I open my
Disk manager and searched for the missing drive . It was listed down there but not on the file explorer. I tried formatting the missing drive but nothing happened. What should I do????
