Windows 10: file explorer shows as open but nothing shows

Hi! Yesterday my file explorer on windows 11 suddenly stopped working. It shows as open with the little line under the icon on the process bar. Although it shows as open, nothing shows up on screen. When I quit the process in the task manager nothing happens. I ran the sfc /scannow, which did nothing. I would like to not have to reset my pc as I have important music apps with important settings and personal files.Thank you in advance!

Files not showing up with File Explorer

I open File Explorer to find a file that I knew had been created at the end of March 2019. I went to the location that I was sure I had saved it to. It did not show up. I opened up a separate File Explorer and searched my entire C drive and there were
the file that I was looking for. I looked at the location of the original search which I had not closed and it was the same as what showed up when I searched the C drive, but the file is not listed. I attempted to refresh the original search folder, thinking
that it might update since I had found it, but the original still does not show the file. What do I do?

File Explorer not showing thumbnails

Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

Are there any more suggestions?
