Windows 10: File Explorer Slows When Connected to the Internet

So this is an odd problem which I have not been able to find any solutions to so far.


When I use my laptop at work, I am able to connect to the internet and do things like play music through Youtube, while also using the file explorer to navigate to the folders I need to move and open pdfs and other such files. Our workplace internet is pretty garbage, but it gets the job done. What is odd though, is that when I take my laptop home with the same music and other internet tabs opened, and use my much faster home internet connection, as soon as I try to navigate to any of my folders, things slow to an absolute stop.


Right-clicking on the File Explorer icon in the taskbar results in nothing happening for literal minutes. Opening nearly any folder takes minutes to process. This is a brand new laptop with a top of the line CPU and 64GB of RAM with a 2TB SSD. I shouldn't be slowed by anything. Restarting the browsers or the laptop, doesn't resolve the issue. It only occurs at home where I have much faster internet speeds. Also, my company and I use the same Internet Service Provider, just different packages.


As soon as I disconnect from the internet, everything speeds back up again. It doesn't matter what browser I use Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc. all result in the same identical slowdown. I can connect online through things like Steam and such without issue, but anytime I have a browser up, things lock solid. Checking with Task Manager reveals all my programs are only using 5%-10% of the CPU and 30% of the Memory.


I've never heard or seen a problem like this before and I have no idea how to go about fixing it. If anyone has ever had this problem, or has any advice, I would be very appreciative.

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?




Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

Method 1: I would suggest you to run the Internet Explorer performance troubleshooter which would tell us the reason behind the issue and check.

Follow these steps to run Internet Explorer Performance troubleshooter.

• Click on search and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Run Internet Explorer Performance troubleshooter.

Method 2: Follow the steps suggested in this link and check if it helps.

Method 3: I would suggest you to run
System Maintenance Troubleshooter and check if it helps:

• Press Windows + X key.　
• Select Control panel.
• In the search box, type Troubleshooter and then click
  Troubleshooting.
• Under System and Security,
• Click on System Maintenance and Click on Next button.

WIN10 internet SLOW!!!!!!!

• Have you installed all pending Windows updates?
• Have you tried connecting to some other Internet connection and check if the same issue occurs?

We suggest you to connect your system to some other network and check if the same slow Internet connection issue persists. If no then there must be issue with your Internet connection.
