Windows 10: File explorer stops responding and crashes upon use everytime.

I have Windows 11. The past few days I am unable to retrieve documents as I can't go through the File Explorer interface. I retrieve them when I open Publisher for example and the previously used files are listed there. I can't explore my hard drive because of this issue.

I'm having an issue with the file explorer. I'm trying to have a clear out of old files in the downloads folder, but every time I try to delete a file it stops working. The blue bar at the top just says 'File explorer (not responding)'. I've tried restarting
my laptop and it still keeps doing it. Any suggestions??

You can try the following steps:

1. Tap down the Windows button first to activate the search bar.
2. After that, in the search bar type control, and then click on the top-most search result, that is on Control Panel.
3. Next, in the search bar type file.
4. Now, from the search results click on File Explorer Options.
