  1. File Explorer, Storage, USB Connection

Hello. Since a few days i've been transfering songs from my PC to my Android phone via USB. At the beginning everything was fine, but, when i tried to transfer a single file, it seemed to me that it wasn't copied. Since then...file explorer identifies only 394 songs out of 515.When the green searching bar above, reaches the X at the end...it stops there until the file explorer crashes; it also crashes (after identifying 394 files) whenever i press anything, even if click it crashes. The folder properties, says that into my 'music' folder there are 0 Files and 0 bytes, which is wrong because the songs are all (and the 515) playable at my phone. That happens only with that folder, all the others are working fine. Please Help!!

    :)

Windows 10 External USB Storage Device No longer Appearing in File Explorer

    Hi Edward,

Here are the possible reasons why your external hard drive is not showing in File Explorer:

    • The hard drive is faulty.
    • The USB driver is corrupted.

For us to better assist you with this, we'd like to know the following:

    • Have you tried connecting your hard drive into a different USB port?
    • Have you tried connecting your hard drive into a different computer?
    • Have you tried connecting other USB devices to your computer?

We're looking forward to your reply.

Explorer connect to Android device directory /storage/emulated/0

Even if you modify USB settings as @bro67 mentioned, WinExplorer cannot see /storage/emulated/0/ as it is, but as I've already described, as the first level/screen when you open "Internal Storage". You cannot see "emulated" or "storage" directory because they are hidden. You can see only "0" directory as "Internal Storage" in WinExplorer and in Android too.
    So, /storage/emulated/0/ = Internal Storage.
WinExplorer and Android common explorer cannot see protected/hidden Android areas.

Description of your problem is a little bit confusing. Do you see your phone directories (folders & files) in WinExplorer? If so, better post screenshot(s). If not, follow what @bro67 suggests.

Conflicting information on my Storage Space...

From disk management, it does report the same storage and used space as from explorer.
May I ask did you try to create a storage pool or something ? if so, you should not mess with this.

Is this disk an external disk connected via USB ? WD or Seagate branch ?

I have the feeling that this disk is formatted with GPT type using 512K emulation so Windows get confused. To verify:

    1. Right click on Disk 6 ->Properties->Volumes. What does it show on partition styles ? GPT ?
    2. Download Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Free, install then run. What does it show on disk 7 ? MBR ?

If step 1 shows GPT and step 2 shows MBR then definitely the disk was formatted using 512K emulation. The reason they did this so that it would be recognized by WinXP or if you connect it to a TV.

Windows Updates failed is another problem you have. First, it tried to updates from 1703 -> 1709 and failed so any subsequent updates to 1803 also failed.
