Windows 10: File explorer window doesn't stay with pinned taskbar icon

I'm not sure if anyone is having issues with this or if there's another thread about it... When I click the pinned taskbar icon for the File Explorer, it opens a File Explorer window but not on the actual pinned icon. The window will be on the far right of the taskbar, as if I opened a window/app that was not already pinned on the taskbar.In the screenshot below, I pressed the File Explorer icon second from the left. But instead of the window staying on the File Explorer icon, it goes all the way to the right???.I don't know if this matters either, but I have my computer synced to OneDrive

You will be able to view multiple pinned icons by scrolling down the taskbar on the computer desktop.



Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

• Are you facing similar issue on performing
  Pin to taskbar?
• Are the icons not displaying on the taskbar?

Check if similar issue persists on trying to pin the icons by right clicking on the file and selecting
Pin to taskbar option from the context menu.

File explorer icon from taskbar dissappears while working on it

To assist you with your concern, we suggest you pin the File Explorer from the Start Menu by following these steps:

• Click the Start Menu.
• Right-click File Explorer.
• Choose Pin to taskbar.

OneDrive files won't stay pinned to taskbar

If a pin an excel files that is saved in my OneDrive folder to the pinned excel files list in the taskbar, once I open that file it disappears from the pinned list. This only happens with files saved in the OneDrive folder. Any files saved in my documents
remain pinned to the taskbar. How can I get the OneDrive files to stay pinned? They stayed pinned before but just started disappearing this last week.
