File History backing up with Wrong Username

Hi, about a week ago I changed my User Folder name C:\Users\Name via the registry and everything went smoothly. When I tried to backup my files using the new name via File History, it uses the old name instead of the new one.I have a very recent System Image, so I'm not worried about my files, but it's extremely frustrating considering the trouble I went to to change the name in the first place. How can I change this so that File History will recognise the new name? Thanks in advance.

    :)

Windows10 File History Stopped Backing Up

Steve. Thanks for the info! Since re-setting the Options in FH seems to have fixed it, I plan to leave well enough alone. But will definitely try your suggestion if it quits working again.

On a more general question: Is there a better Auto Backup application than File History? I don't care about historical versions of any files - only current version in case my hard drive fails. I prefer it to be on my external hard drive (not cloud), and free is always good!

File History not backing up any files

    Hello Victor

Thank you for the response. I had already checked that thread, but it hasn't helped me:

    • The thread deals with Windows 8's implementation of File History, which is somewhat different to that of Windows 10.
    • Most of the thread deals with setting up File History (which I have already done, precisely following the recommended steps). The third link in the thread might have been useful since it appears to link to a page that deals with troubleshooting File History
(as opposed to setting it up), but unfortunately the link is dead.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
