  1. "File History" backup to NAS - One key folder missing

I have been using File History to back up various folders to a "MyCloud Home Duo" NAS solution from Western Digital. This is connected directly by cable to my modem. For many months this worked perfectly, but when I periodically review the backed up files I saw that a certain folder ceased being backed up at some point after 12th April 2024. All files previosuly backed up to that folder, prior to that date, remain backed up. This is the folder C:\Users\Philip\Documents\Python\ProjectsIn my Documents, this folder has many other sub-folders.I checked the "Exclude Folders" section of "File History

  2. adding WSL home folder to file history to be backed up to NAS

I am using File History (not Backup) to back up my personal folders to my NAS. I would like to add my home folder of my WSL to the list of files to be backed up.

File History and backup to a NAS

There's your problem. If you want to backup your personal folders, you need a backup program. That's not what File History was designed to do.

adding WSL home folder to file history to be backed up to NAS

    Hello, this is Emily.

To add your WSL home folder to the list of files backed up by File History, you will need to first include it in your Library then you can set it up to be backed up via File History. Here are the steps:

    1. Find your WSL home folder in File Explorer. Right click on the folder and choose "Include in library" and then "Documents" library.
    2. Type "Control Panel" in the search on your taskbar and hit enter to launch it. then go to "File History."
    3. Click on "Exclude folders" and remove the folder you want to backup from the excluded list.
    4. Save the changes and then click on Backup now.
