  1. File history database

Hi all. This question has probably been asked many times before, but because of the large number of similar topics that file history is a very useful thing on the various yellow pages, I could not find an answer. What happens to the file history database/system responsible for syncing and file history snapshots if I delete a file, change it, or add a new file to a location that is normally under system supervision, but do it outside the system? Let's say I delete some file from the "Documents" folder, having previously booted from some live usb where the system knows nothing that file history is

    :)

    Recover access database

Did you try this yet? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283849

Run the Compact and Repair utility. To do so, follow these steps:
    • If the database is open, close it.
    • On the Tools menu, point to Database Utilities, and then click Compact and Repair Database.
    • In the Database to Compact From dialog box, select the file that you want to compact, and then click Compact.
    • In the Compact Database Into dialog box, enter a new file name, and then click Save.

If the compact and repair does not succeed, you will receive a message stating so. This means the damage is so severe that it cannot be corrected.

    File History - Deleting Entries

    File History

Can I delete current individual Document entries in File History and still have File History work properly for future listings and maintain my old listings?

    Another tech forum said:
"File History keeps a database of all the files backed up. Since you manually deleted data in the File History folder (My Documents), the database and file store would be out of sync."

    Do you agree?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

File History not backing up any files

    Hello Victor

Thank you for the response. I had already checked that thread, but it hasn't helped me:

    • The thread deals with Windows 8's implementation of File History, which is somewhat different to that of Windows 10.
    • Most of the thread deals with setting up File History (which I have already done, precisely following the recommended steps). The third link in the thread might have been useful since it appears to link to a page that deals with troubleshooting File History
(as opposed to setting it up), but unfortunately the link is dead.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
