File History not showing all backed up directories Windows 10

For several years, I’ve been using the File History tool to back up files from two hard drives C:, the SSD where my operating system resides; and D:, the HDD where many of the operating files for installed programs and my saved files reside.

The D: drive recently failed, yesterday I picked up a new HDD to replace it. The new D: drive is working fine, but when I tried to use the File History tool to restore the backup of the D: drive, none of those files and folders showed up as available to transfer. The only files and folders appearing in the File History system are from the C: drive. The D: drive has been backed up, as those files exist on the drive where backups are stored. I can manually copy them to the new D: drive, but they have the ......UTC timestamps added to the file names.

How can I get File History to properly display the D: drive backups so that I can restore the files without having to find some way to strip the timestamp out of several thousand file names?

    :)

    Backing up File history

I went up to version 17133.73 and then I did:

    - switch off Backing up File history

    - clear all backup completely

    - no change about included directories

    - switch on Backing up File history

    - one of the directories was skipped

    - I removed that one and tried to add it back (is in the root named _DATA) .... but it doesn't work at all

    - I can't add the directory to the list at all ..... nothing happened when I do that

    - after few attempts I get success, but I can see the same directory more times

    - and when I run the backup, this directory is not back it up at all (all others are OK)

    Thanks for you support

File History not backing up any files

    Hello Victor

Thank you for the response. I had already checked that thread, but it hasn't helped me:

    • The thread deals with Windows 8's implementation of File History, which is somewhat different to that of Windows 10.
    • Most of the thread deals with setting up File History (which I have already done, precisely following the recommended steps). The third link in the thread might have been useful since it appears to link to a page that deals with troubleshooting File History
(as opposed to setting it up), but unfortunately the link is dead.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
