    File History Restore to a New PC --> Missing user


    I have a File History backup that I made on my old Win 10 system. I had two users on that system one called work and the other was play. I set up and completed backups for both profiles. I verified that both are complete on the backup disk browsing the file system.I've now have a Windows 11 system that I'm trying to restore to. I select the use existing disk option and I see my work profile, but the play profile is not listed. I can see the play profile files on the backup drive in the same structure d:\FileHistory\play. Any ideas how to get Win 11 to see the existing files?

    File history on USB security user access

    Hi,

    To isolate this concern, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    • Open File History folder.
    • Select all the files that you don't want to be accessed.
    • Right-click on the highlighted files and choose Properties.
    • Go to Security tab.
    • Click on Advanced.
    • Select all the user account that you don't want to have access on your File History folder.
    • Click on Disable inheritance.
    • Lastly, click on OK.

    File History won't work, says insufficient space

    Hi,

    It is possible that the user profiles are also being restored when restoring your files in
    File History. We suggest that you manually choose the files you want to restore. Here are the steps:

    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Search for File History.
    • Click the Restore personal files option on the left pane of your screen.
    • Select the folders you want to restore and then click the restore icon.
    Note: Make sure that you don't copy the duplicated folders listed.

    File History ~ Transfer files to new PC

    You are missing the point here, what I think we need is an easy way to transfer/RESTORE the files from the backup done with File History to a new PC. This should be an easy task if not what is the point to have File History if in an event where you lost
    the pc you don't have the ability to restore old the backup to a different PC. Can you help with this?
