    File History Windows 10

    Hi There,

I have had my new laptop Dell about 3 months now. It came with Win10 Pro pre-installed, and the current OS build is 18363.1256.

Today I lost a document by not setting up auto-save. So I went to see if there was any way to Recover the file, and while there apparently is not, I did find the File History routine.

Interestingly my File History is off, and the laptop does not recognize any drive, including C://

And, it appears that I cannot post screenshots to show what I'm getting.

So, I would like to turn on File History, but according to it, I have no internal drives. when I click on the link on the left "select drive" it still doesn't see any drives.

When I click on the *only* link available to me on this page, I can then see one of my roommates' drive although since we're all on the same router, I would have thought I should be able to see 6-8 of them but I cannot open that one either.

How do I set up any Drive to be accessible by File History?

    Thanks.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

File History not backing up any files

    Hello Victor

Thank you for the response. I had already checked that thread, but it hasn't helped me:

    • The thread deals with Windows 8's implementation of File History, which is somewhat different to that of Windows 10.
    • Most of the thread deals with setting up File History (which I have already done, precisely following the recommended steps). The third link in the thread might have been useful since it appears to link to a page that deals with troubleshooting File History
(as opposed to setting it up), but unfortunately the link is dead.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
