Windows 10: File open/save settings

My windows has been updated to windows 11. Now when I choose to open a file NOT save, Windows chooses a usually inappropriate folder and offers no other option but to save it. This just creates unnecessary disk clutter. I usually choose Open so I can see if I want to keep the file. If I don't, it's OK for it to go into Windows purgatory I used to have to search the temp folders often. If I do want it, I use Save As to save the file with the name, format, and location that I want. Please tell me how to make Windows do what I want.

opening .dds files with gimp

Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?

 

microsoft print to pdf files will not open after saving

We suggest that you save the PDF files on your device and check if the issue persists. You may also want to associate the PDF files to Microsoft Edge as the default program to make sure that you have a default application that will open all of your PDF files.
Here are the steps:

• Search for Default Programs.
• Go to Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
• Select the .pdf file type and then click the Change program button on the upper right of the
  Set Associations window.
• Choose Microsoft Edge and then click OK.

Saves log files ?

You can either read the files in Windows or my preferred method is.....

You can then run cleaner, you will see the log files listed, then if you right click you can save as a text file and then have a read. You may also get an "error reporting" log listed seperatly.
